Tom Rooth Ceramics at BEAR Petworth
Tom Rooth has always painted and drawn, from childhood, right through his years working in the art world as an auction house specialist and fine art dealer. He particularly likes working in the tactile medium of ceramic and finds plates a versatile form for his designs, which can be hung on a wall as a work of art or used on the table. Inspired by both land and sea, Tom has created a range of distinctive designs that add cheer to any home and showcase his skill as an artist.
Pieces include one-off, hand-drawn and handmade dishes, limited edition chargers, and most recently dinner services that can be made up piece by piece or in sets according to design. In the New Year, we will be receiving one-off hand painted serving dishes, tiles, and soap-dishes, as Tom’s range grows.
Tom will also be launching The Isolation Collection in the late Spring, created during the lockdown of March to June of 2020, when he took himself off to a remote cottage in Wales. Intending to stay for a few days, he stayed for three months, documenting his daily life and drawing on Instagram. During this period of isolation, Tom created a truly inspiring body of work, soon to be shared with us on ceramic.
