Sir John Whittaker Ellis, 1st Baronet JP (1829-1912) was Lord Mayor of London for 1881–1882. Later, he was a Conservative Member of Parliament for eight years. His was a prosperous banking executive, estate agent and auctioneer and among his legacies was a fire station at Byfleet, Surrey.
