George Barrett (1863-1898), was a legendary English jockey, famous is the 1880s and 1890s. He rode the winner of his first race in 1877 and went on to ride six more winners that year. During his early career he could do weights as low at 5st 7lb (34.9kg), but sadly Barrett was never champion jockey, instead he was second four times.
