Henry Charles FitzRoy Somerset, 8th Duke of Beaufort KG, PC, DL (1824-1899), was a peer, military officer, Conservative politician and between 1858 and 1859 and again from 1866 to 1868, Master of the Horse. Beaufort conceived and planned the Badminton Library - a series of sporting books, which started with a volume on Hunting in 1885.
