More about this product
This pair of lamps has been rewired and PAT tested. They are sold with a pair of new black hand painted shades with gold linings.
The decorative motifs of these tall and impressive column like table lamps are reminiscent of the designs by Augustus Welby Pugin, the famous Gothic Revivalist who rebuilt the Houses of Parliament. In particular the rope twisted stem and lobed foot are derivatives of Pugin’s many candlestick and candelabra designs. Pugin incorporated a lot of his lighting designs into the interior decoration of the Palace of Westminster, where he saw the value of highly reflective lighting against the bold colours and gilding of the interior scheme. His designs were inspired by Medieval ecclesiastical forms, such as brassware from 15th Century Nuremberg.
