English polychrome and gilt decorated gaming table in George II style, c. 1900

Decorated with Chinoiserie motifs, with dished corner wells, above shaped aprons, cabriole legs with claw and ball feet.

From the early 18th Century, card playing was considered a highly desirable social skill, as often depicted in conversation portraits of the period, and games tables were considered an important furnishing.

This decorative table is based on a George II style table in the ‘open’ position.
