More about this product
This frame was veneered with a burr wood that simulates the look of tortoiseshell. This was a distinctive material used in conjunction with ebony in the 17th Century, particularly in Antwerp, to achieve striking decorative contrasts on fine furniture. This baroque style was revived in the late 19th Century.
