More about this product
Rosa is Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella's reinterpretation of the ingredient par excellence in the history of perfume. A very ancient raw material, already used by the Sumerians, mentioned in the Iliad, and reserved for nobles and the court in 5th century B.C. China. An exquisitely floral olfactory construction tributes this timeless flower.
The Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella can trace its roots back to the Florence of 1221. In that year, Dominican friars founded the convent of Santa Maria Novella, and began to cultivate - among other things - a garden. From that same garden, many centuries of experience in pharmacopoeia and natural preparations began to develop. And in later years that experience would expand to include the worlds of cosmetics, fragrances and wellness products.
Olifactory Family: Floral Notes.
The top notes welcome us with rose petals, bergamot and neroli. The middle notes include Rose Centifolia, violet and jasmine: it is this, 'the rose of May', that lies at the heart of the fragrance and the art of perfumery. The base notes complete the journey with musk, patchouli, and vanilla. The rose is also part of the Officina history: archives show that the Dominican friars were already preparing their famous 'Rose Water' in 1381, used as a perfume and home remedy.
