This pair of chairs have their original mohair fabric with brass nail decoration. This detail was so characteristic of Shulz’s early work that he named it ‘Bo-Point’. It is seen on pieces upholstered in both fabric and leather in the 1930s and 40s.
The chairs have had their legs repolished and three loose brass nails secured, but otherwise are in good, original condition.
Modernist architect, designer and publisher Otto Shulz (1882-1970) was born in Germany, but was active in Gothenburg, Sweden, for over 40 years. It was there that he established his prestigious interiors shop Boet (1920-50) and also published an eponymous, influential design magazine.
